About

I like to think of cooking as a form of time-travel where every recipe is like a snapshot of some part of our life. Just like a photo, a recipe brings memories of people,  places and seasons. Who doesn’t love flicking through an old photo album? It’s a sweet little journey back in time. And so is cooking. I smell roast pork and I am transported back to our family kitchen on a Sunday when mum, while carving, would always give herself an extra piece of crackle because it was ‘the cook’s treat’ and I would eye it off enviously. And just looking at a row of green tomatoes on a windowsill always has me thinking of holidays at Nan’s house. Put all your favourite recipes in one place and you have an album of memories. Recipes we haven’t tried yet are the film that is yet to be developed.

I used to think food was simply a way to fill an empty stomach, but ever since home economics in high school, where pasta shapes beyond spaghetti were revealed in all their glory, cooking swallowed me. I’ve had a short-stint as an apprentice chef, garnered qualifications in nutrition, worked at a food magazine and buried myself most nights in a rather large cookbook collection, now I’d like to start sharing some of the recipes and food discoveries that are a little piece of my story . Maybe along the way our stories will collide.
